Thanks for visiting our Chester Rotary Club web site. Our club is comprised of dedicated and professional men and women following our organizations motto of “Service Above Self”. We currently have 37 members who are civic minded, compassionate, and have the desire to improve the community and the world in which we live in.
Our club is very active in fundraising events that allow us to contribute to the improvement of our community. The February time of year marks our annual bowling tournament comprised of 5 man teams from many organizations. It is a great opportunity to get youth and underprivileged people involved in fellowship and just having a great time. This event is held in honor of our late member, Larry Madison, Sr., who was a stellar member of our club and our community.
April marks our participation in the Fool For The Arts event, held at the Midlothian campus of John Tyler Community College. This will provide you with a perfect opportunity to visit our booth for a good meal while you enjoy wonderful artwork from a variety of artists.
The May time of year is the time for our annual HOG (Happening on the green) event, which includes great food, fellowship, music, and an opportunity to meet our sponsors who support the event and our club. This is a must attend family event, so come out and join us.
In the fall of the year we join forces with several other Rotary clubs for the Magnificent Midlothian Food Festival. This is another opportunity for local business to contribute to a great event. There is live music, spirits, and a great variety of unique food to challenge your palate.
These are some of the events that allow us to work together, fellowship, and raise money to improve our community. You might wonder what we do with the monies that are raised. Locally we contribute to: Dictionary and Literacy programs at six local elementary schools for third graders; 4-Way Test essay contest at two middle schools; scholarship grants to our local high schools; two local high school Rotary Service Clubs; the YMCA; Richmond Friends of the Homeless; Chesterfield Police and Sheriff's Dept; Chesterfield Fire and EMS; the American Red Cross; the Salvation Army; and various youth leadership camps and assemblies. Internationally we contribute to: the Rotary International Foundation; the Rotary International Polio Plus Match, (an aggressive campaign to eradicate polio worldwide permanently); the Rotary International Wheelchair Foundation; and Shelter Box USA.
Our club meets weekly on Wednesdays at the Wild Rose Café, 4620 Chester Square Rd
Chester, VA 23831, in the Village of Chester for breakfast. We begin at 7:30 a.m. with breakfast and fellowship, and have an informative speaker at 8:00 a.m. Our meeting adjourns at 8:30 a.m. If you are looking for that extra challenge in life and want to make a difference in our community, come by and join us. Together we can succeed.
