Heard at Today's Meeting

President Tony called the meeting to order at 7:30. Brion led us in prayer, Tony led the Pledge of allegiance, and in Graham's absence Tony through Pete A. led us in song "God Bless America."

 

Happy $: Ron was happy, as was Dick S, Dick J, Pete B, Leanne and Scott  

 

Announcements: 

1).  Christine Adler informed the club the Thomas Dale Orchestra is raising funds for the Food Bank.  The concert is May 1,2009 at 7:30 at Thomas Dale HS.  Tickets are $10.00  The musical program evolves around "rock and roll."  Christine discovered the Food Bank feeds 5 people for every $1 raised.  Christine presentation to the club raised $150.

 

Bill, Suzy and Chris "graduated from the red ribbon club."

 

CONGRATULATIONS to South Richmond Rotary Club on their generous donation to the "Families of the Wounded."  Picture of the check presentation is on page 4 of the April 22, 2009 The Village News.  

 

This Week's Program:

Tara Nelson was iducted into the club today.  Her sponsor is Chris Sovine. WELCOME!  (Tara has graciously offered to help with the website/newsletter.  THANK-YOU)

 

June introduced our speaker Clara King, Nancy Boyd and Betty Beverly.  Thay spoke to the club on a program called Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Families First  A program designed to help first-time parents rasie children who are healthy, well-adjusted and prepared to start to school. The website is:   http://www.chesterfield.gov/humanservices/familiesfirst/default.asp  The program is very benefical and much needed.

Next week our speaker host will be Scott Fisher and the greeter is Dave Long.  Be sure to check the website calendar for future events, and the Member area for future speaker and greeter assignments

Raffle: Chuck won the small pot worth $14.00 and drew the Queen of Clubs. The large pot is worth $423.00.
