Heard at Today's Meeting

Past Pres. Warren called the meeting to order at 7:30. Ernie led us in prayer, Henry led the Pledge of allegiance,  and Tom led us in song God Bless America. Scott who was last week's 50/50 winner came in at the end of the song and wanted to re-start as he wanted Home on the Range. Our Man on the Street treated us to some ways to recognize when you are getting old. "You are getting old when...."

Happy $

Darryl had a Happy $ because he woke up this morning. Another because he will be singing at Chester Fest this weekend, Pete B happy to donate some belts to Branders Bridge Middle School to help boys with loose, baggy pants. He would like others to consider donating. Larry was happy for partnering with Pete A. Krista happy to be inducting Tricia Wolfe today. Dick is happy for Auction support for the Golf Tourney Oct. 23-24. Jeff happy for school starting - sad for stroke his grandmother sufferred. Tricia happy that Shepherd Center is moved to new quarters between Riptide and Brocks - invite to all to stop in. Henry happy to have family moved from Glocester.

Announcements

Ron - District Conference Oct 11- 14. Not too early to make plans.

Wes - Classic Car Show and Movie Night. Right now I have the following people:

Pete Adler
Larry Madison
John Philipkosky
Dick Slinkard
Pete Burke
Krista Ratliff (After 4)
Kathy Jentgen (After 5)
Jeff Peters (After 5)
Wes Baskerville

JTCC is expecting over 300 people at this event and I would estimate the numbers being higher than that given the draw of the classic cars in the Chester area.  As you can see, we're going to need more people for this event. Need people, coolers, lights.

Warren - MMFF sponsors are coming in. We need more.

This Week's Program

Jeff introduces Marcia Tetterton, executive director of Virginia Association for Home Care and Hospice. Marcia talked about the growing need for the care of our aging baby boomers. There are over 200 organizations who belong to this group that provides care. She also talked about the shortage of therapists and nurses who serve the geriatric community.

Upcoming Programs

Next week our speaker host will be Jack Heslin. Be sure to check the website for future speaker hosts.

Also check the district website at www.rotary7600.org and look on the calendar.

Visiting Rotarians and Guests

No visiting Rotarians but a few guests:

Bill Humphry - also a guest of Jeff's

Dick Slinkard brought his better half, Susan.

As Always, we close the meeting with the 4-way test....Of the things we think, say, and do...

Is it the  TRUTH...

Is it  FAIR TO ALL CONCERNED...

Will it   BUILD GOOD WILL AND BETTER FRIENDSHIP....

Will it be  BENEFICIAL TO ALL CONCERNED....

Until next week.................................
