Heard at Today's Meeting

Pres. Warren called the meeting to order at 7:30. Sam led us in prayer, Dick led the Pledge of allegiance, Dave and  led us in song. Chuck reported on the success of the Bowling Tournament held last Saturday with 28 teams competing. Gross revenue was $4700 and the 50/50 raffle won by Forrest Garrett netted $318.

Dave liked a suggestion made to him at last week's meeting to have a couple of offsprings of Chester Hog (Chester Jr. and Annabel) become world travellers. They could travel to Iraq and other places far and wide promoting our H.O.G and spreading Rotary good will. The club would pay their transportation and lodging fees.

Two MMFF sponsors (Workforce Alliance and GMAC Mortgage.) were presented awards for their generous contributions in Bronze Sponsorship.

Happy $

Jack was happy (and late) that he met with Dick, and Ron for a Workforce Alliance project.

Other Happy $ were focused on the bowling tournament.

Man on th Street

A teacher was heard to say " If quizes are quizicle, what are tests??

Announcements

Chuck announced that a Billboard promoting Chester Rotary would be going up between Jeff Davis Hwy and I-95 on Rt 10 in a couple of weeks. At least one month's publicity.

Keep Feb 24 open for Founders Night. Hopefully you have told Boo of your dinner choices.

Plan to attend the reception for incoming GSE Team from Great Brittain on April 19 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Colonial Heights. Admission is free and the bar will be OPEN.

This Week's Program

Ron introduced Vandy Jones of the Petersburg Economic Development council. Vandy informed us of many activities aimed at renewing Petersburg. The SW Industrial Park, the Sports Complex

and Retail and Service building along with the new hospital off S. Crater Rd., and the Downtown renewal are all intended to draw more people to the area.

Upcoming Programs

Next week our speaker host will be Sam Moffett whose guest is Ron Gray of the Village News. Be sure to check the website calendar for future speaker hosts

Also check the district website at www.rotary7600.org and look on the calendar.

Visiting Rotarians and Guests

Krista brought a return guest, Trisha, who looks like an excellent potential member.

Birthdays and Anniversaries

Pete, Dick, and John R. all celebrate February birthdays

50/50 Pot grows. Only 5 cards remained as Pres. Warren drew the Ace of Diamonds. Good for $43, but the elusive Big Pot at $976 will live on to next week.

As Always, we close the meeting with the 4-way test....Of the things we think, say, and do...

Is it the  TRUTH...

Is it  FAIR TO ALL CONCERNED...

Will it   BUILD GOOD WILL AND BETTER FRIENDSHIP....

Will it be  BENEFICIAL TO ALL CONCERNED....
