Heard at Today's Meeting

Pres. Warren called the meeting to order at 7:30. Larry led the Pledge of Allegiance, PP John led the prayer, and Dave led us in song "We Wish You A Merry Christmas". We re-presented the slate of officers for 2007-2008 and voted them into office effective July 1. Congratulations:

President ....................Bill Rauschberg

VP/Pres. Elect..............Tony Russo

Secretary.....................Krista Ratliff

Treasurer.....................Angelo Parker

Sgt.-Of-Arms................Tom Michener

Asst. SOA....................Brion Seward

Happy $

Larry was happy to have a guest and remove the red ribbon from his badge and Krista did likewise. Jack was happy to be going to visit family for Christmas. The other Jack was happy he didn't get caught wearing the wrong badge. Scott was happy to get response to sponsor letter from a sponsor who wanted to give MORE.

Announcements

Larry announced that we want to get 40 teams (max) in the Feb Bowling Tournament compared to 25 last year, so let's get those teams organized.

Dave had a GREAT idea to produce a calendar for 2007 to give our sponsors and others, while promoting the H.O.G. at the same time. Unanamously endorsed by members present.

Pres. Warren announced there would be no meeting next week (Dec 27)

Sam passed around some pictures of the Christmas Party and the Parade.

Boo announced that the speaker for Founder's Night on Feb 25 was booked.

This Week's Program

John R introduced our speaker Francis Gary Powers, Jr., who spoke about his project of establishing a Cold War Museum. Gary's father was the pilot of a spy plane that was shot down by the Russians in the 1960's. The "Cold War" was the period from the end of WWII until The demise of the Soviet Union in 1981. Several "Conflicts" took place during that time including Korea and Viet Nam. There is now a medal that can be awarded to veterans who served during that era. We look forward to the establishment of the museum in Fairfax, VA soon.

Upcoming Programs

Next meeting our speaker host will be Bud Yerly on Jan. 3. Be sure to check the website calendar for future speaker hosts

Also check the district website at www.rotary7600.org and look on the calendar.

Visiting Rotarians and Guests

Debra Williamson, Megan Madison, Trish Wolf and Jay Tesh joined us today.

Birthdays and Anniversaries

John P is celebrating another birthday, and Larry's dog is 2 years old.

We ended the year with no winner for the 50/50 pot. But June drew for an absent member and drew the Q of spades.

As Always, we close the meeting with the 4-way test....Of the things we think, say, and do...

Is it the  TRUTH...

Is it  FAIR TO ALL CONCERNED...

Will it   BUILD GOOD WILL AND BETTER FRIENDSHIP....

Will it be  BENEFICIAL TO ALL CONCERNED....
