Heard at Today's Meeting

Pres. Warren called the meeting to order at 7:30. Scott led the prayer - relating, since it is All Saints Day, that we Rotarian Saints, are walking the walk. Pete B.Led the Pledge of allegiance,  and songmaster Sam led us in song, My Country 'Tis of Thee. A motion was made to contribute $1000 to help Charlie Fletcher who had face surgery and is an active participant in Chesterfield County service. Motion was passed unanimously. Our "Man on the Street" was at a loss for words today, but promised to do some research and have more to say next week.

Happy $

A very happy bunch today giving $ for their happiness.

Announcements

Saturday Rotary Leadership Institute will be held at John Tyler CC. Rich needs a few volunteers to help set up (about 8AM) before the seminar starts at 9:30.

On Nov 15 DG Jim will visit us for breakfast. Let's have a good turnout.

Bell Ringing sign-up sheet was circulated and is now posted on the website. Dec 2 is Bell Ringing day at Ukrops Bermuda Square for Chester Rotarians (9-1).

Christmas party at June's house was discussed - final date will be announced next week.

Next Wednesday we will "Double Dip". Regular meeting in the AM at Wild Rose, and an Area Rotary Meeting at Rivers Bend at 5:45 PM with a Mexican Buffet for $11.

Community HS has shown a lot of interest in forming an Interact Club, thanks to Dick for making the contacts. There are about 25 students considering membership. Paperwork may be finished as soon as 2 weeks so the signing could occur when Gov. Jim is here.

We need help from the membership bringing SHELTERBOX to the corporate community. If any members have names of persons who may speak for their organizations (and make $ committment) please let Pres. Warren or Jack know so we can make a presentation to them.

This Week's Program

Larry introduced Bill Poole, who volunteers with "Elder Homes" fdabricating and installing wheelchair ramps in home of the elderly so they may stay in their homes. When Bill became involved, there were 100 people in need on the waiting list. In the past year that list has dwindled to about 70, but there will always be a need. They make about 1 per week at a cost of about $1000 each for materials supported entirely by private donations. Organizations can help by coming to the warehouse and building and installing, or by making financial donations. The Hopewell Rotary build and installed one in Hopewell last year. A working party can assemble one in a day and install it in another. Could be a worthwhile project for Chester Rotarians. Just needs a little leadership.

Upcoming Programs

Next week our speaker host will be Tom. Be sure to check the website calendar for future speaker hosts

Visiting Rotarians and Guests

Ed Littlejohn spends another week as a "visitor", as did Ray Hevener. We would like to see them both a members soon.

Birthdays and Anniversaries

Larry birthday was today - he prepaid the fine by announcing it himself. I think Rich also has an impending birthday in November.

As Always, we close the meeting with the 4-way test....Of the things we think, say, and do...

Is it the  TRUTH...

Is it  FAIR TO ALL CONCERNED...

Will it   BUILD GOOD WILL AND BETTER FRIENDSHIP....

Will it be  BENEFICIAL TO ALL CONCERNED....
