Sign-ups to deliver lunches for the work camps went around. Work camps are 7/19-7/23. If you'd like to hlep out, see Pete Adler.
Brion reflected on his year as president which started out rocky when he lost the pins he was supposed to give out and discovered what a RINO is. He commented that he originally joined the club for networking and business relations, but that has become the last reason for remaining a member. The club has become a second family and the community involvement is much more important now. Our last charter member, Jack Heislen, has moved to the beach and is no longer a member of our club. The loss of Chuck Kinsey was difficult for all. The scholarship fund in his memory is now up to $6775 and growing. MMFF was the most profitable ever. Chesterfest and the HOG were not as successful due to weather conditions. The Christmas party, Founder Night and Change of Watch party were all fun, family events. Brion plans to continue his pursuit of trying to partner with an international rotary club.
Tony Russo was presented with the Rotarian of the year award (he was not present at the change of watch event). He was also given his pin for his role of Chair of Public Administration in the coming year.
Brion handed over the Carl Sitter remembrance packet (suitcase) over to Pete Adler. Pete discussed his thoughts for the coming year as President. He feels that all members have talents to contribute as "power tools" of Rotary. Expect to be called upon and used. Pete talked about how he became president-elect when Angelo had to leave the club. It took a few phone calls, one from Chuck and he was next in line for presidency. He would like to dedicate this year to Chuck and be the best we can be. The Aug. 4 board meeting will discuss restructuring and dues are now $792/yr.
