Heard at Today's Meeting
President Brion called the meeting to order at 7:30. We said a prayer, the pledge of alleigence and sang a song.

Educator: More than 10,000 shelter boxes were sent to Haiti. Shelter boxes contain a tent for 10 people, blankets, water, cooking supplies and much more. More than 60 countries have been supported through rotary shelter boxes.
Announcements:
Board meeting is TUESDAY, May 4th at Howletts, 6:00 dinner, 6:45 meeting.
C&F bank is collected food for CCHASM food bank.
June is selling raffle tickets for Chester Garden Club to win a ceramic bird house. Proceeds go to the Susan G. Komen cure for cancer.
The Garden club used the funds donated by Chester Rotary to fix up the corener of Harrowgate and Route 10. Check it out!
Bill is asking for support for his MS Walk on Saturday. He will walk in honor of his wife Melanie. Pete A. is riding in for MS also. He has sent an email asking for support.
John Tyler College has sent Ron a letter thanking Chester Rotary for it's participation in the Fool for Arts for th fifth year in a row.
Tara and her daughter, Lauren, will walk for CCFA (Crohns and Colitis Foundation) on May 20th. Lauren has Ulcerative Colitis and we'd like to raise money to help find a cure. Tara will send an email around with information if you'd like to support CCFA.
South Richmond Rotary has a golf tournament on May 25. See Brion if you would like to play. cost is $300 per team.
HOG is May 12th. Some sponsors spots still available. We still need prizes. HOG sign up was passed around. See Bill to sign up. Sell, Sell, Sell, Sell those tickets!!!
Christine Adler dicussed her Rock Concert for Causes which will be on May 7th at 7:30 at Thomas Dale High School. They are raising money for Falling whistles and CASA.
This Week's Program: Shawn Smith from Chesterfield County Schools was our guest speaker. CCPS approved budget on April 27th. Shawn was able to explain how is broken down for the schools with 80% of it being salaries. He commented that the board has tried to be as effecient in spending as possible and defer capital spending projects when possible. Chesterfield is the 4th largest school division in VA. Mr. Smith also explained the difference in Chesterfield's tax break down versus surrounding counties. They had to cut $36 million for the next school year. 150 employees will not have their contracts renewed in August. Volunteers and business partnerships are even more important now.
